Why This Exists
This space exists because I needed it and it didn't exist.
I train jiu jitsu. I love it. And I've also seen the ways it can hurt people — not physically, but psychologically. The pressure to train through injury. The culture that celebrates pushing past limits instead of respecting them. The environments where certain people don't feel safe.
I've seen brilliant athletes burn out because they confused competition mode with training mode. I've seen women leave the sport because their boundaries didn't matter. I've seen recovery treated as weakness and injuries as character tests.
And I realized: there wasn't a place where someone could find both the community and the knowledge to train sustainably. To know what a healthy gym actually looks like. To understand their own body. To set boundaries without guilt.
So I built this.
Vireya Mat is free. It always will be. Not because I don't value the work, but because the most important knowledge shouldn't be locked behind a paywall. Because you deserve to feel safe. Because your body deserves to be treated with intelligence, not just intensity.
Keep training. Keep growing. And know that what you're figuring out — how to be in your body, how to respect your limits, how to build culture — someone else needs to hear it too.
— Built by someone who trains.
